Have you heard of Product Lifecycle Management?

PLM manages the butterfly effect of change management on CAD files.

Say, Bob is working on a part in a machine down the cubicle from Jamal.

Bob then runs a repeatable-digital-validation stress-test on the part - which incorporates an ISO standard and a State regulation - after changing the material from bronze to copper.

The material digitally heats up and the PLM system determines that Bob’s part is going to break Jamal’s adjacent part.

Rather than having to stand up and walk over to the cubicle, or send a letter in a tube, the PLM (Windchill / Teamcenter) notifies the RACI matrix - including Jamal - that there is a point of failure which will cause a conflict.

Jamal gets pissed because Jamal’s uncle coulda known that…

So Jamal gets up, walks over to Bob, and says:

“Why didn’t you say that to my face? This is not an interchangeable part!“

Bob says: “Let’s talk about it next weekend at our regular frog gig… remember: one tree a day… anyway, if you don’t simmer down, we’ll figure out TOGETHER how captive insurance impacts product quality.“

Jamal: “You’re such a square root… fine by me“
